Media Arts Center San Diego's San Diego Latino Film Festival is proud to present its’ 9th Annual Cinema en tu Idioma Film Series showcasing new Latin American, Mexican and Spanish Cinema. The 4-month series will continue in September with the screening of MALDEAMORES (LOVESICKNESS), starring Luis Guzman, September 19-25 at UltraStar Mission Valley Cinemas at Hazard Center (off 163 Freeway & Friars Rd.). Cinema en tu Idioma 2008 is funded by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
A crowd-pleaser at the recent 2008 San Diego Latino Film Festival and chosen to represent Puerto Rico at the 80th Academy Awards celebrated this year, MALDEAMORES (LOVESICKNESS) stars Luis Guzman. From executive producer Benicio Del Toro comes a film about love of all kinds and at all ages in the backyards of Puerto Rico. A child's first kiss. A man who can’t grasp rejection. An unfaithful husband. An elderly love affair. Passion defeats reason again and again in this film about the eternal masochistic search for love.

MALDEAMORES (LOVESICKNESS) will screen for one-week only exclusively at UltraStar Mission Valley Cinemas at Hazard Center (off the 163 Freeway and Friars Rd.). Run time: 83 minutes. Screening times are: 11:30 am, 1:45 pm, 4:00 pm, 6:15 pm, 8:30 pm, and 10:45 pm.

The series schedule is as follows: August 22-28 (Pretendiendo – Ugly Me), September 19-25 (Maldeamores – Lovesickness, produced by Benicio del Toro & starring Luis Guzman), October 17-23 (El Brindis, starring Ana Serradilla), and November 14-20 (Cannes Winner El Violin, XXY, starring Ricardo Darin, & El Baño del Papa -The Pope’s Toilet)

I saw "Maldeamores" this past Saturday with my wife and we both enjoyed the film very much. I am recomending it to my friends and family and will look forward to buying it if and when it comes out on DVD. I want it to be part of my latino movie collection at home.
